A Timeline of Transformational Gifts Thank you to the individuals, families and foundations that made transformational gifts to support the College of Arts and Sciences during the Campaign for Carolina. The following list represents the College’s largest single gifts made during the campaign. Many of the donors listed here made additional gifts to support the College and the University throughout the campaign. May 2012* - $5 million planned gift from Gary W. Parr ’79 for Parr Center for Ethics April 2013* - $5 million from the William R. Kenan, Jr. Charitable Trust for renovation of historic Hill Hall December 2014 - $5 million anonymous gift to support faculty leadership in the College January 2016 - $7.5 million anonymous planned gift for endowed professorships in communication and history May 2016 - $10 million anonymous planned gift for the College May 2017 - $18 million from Shuford family endows Shuford Program in Entrepreneurship September 2017 - $12 million from Joan H. Gillings for PlayMakers Repertory Company and department of dramatic art November 2017 - $30 million anonymous planned gift for Carolina Center for Jewish Studies December 2017 - $10 million anonymous gift for Chancellor’s Science Scholars Program June 2018 - $5 million matching gift from the William R.
