Many call the UNC College of Arts and Sciences the heart and soul of Carolina, and no wonder: We are home to 88 percent of Carolina’s 17,000-plus undergraduates, nearly a quarter of its graduate students and more than 1,000 faculty members.

Our mission is to create knowledge and discover innovative solutions to the world’s greatest challenges, to educate outstanding undergraduate and graduate students, and to encourage faculty, staff and students to contribute meaningfully to North Carolina, the nation and the world.

Our vision, “Think. Communicate. Collaborate. Create. … for meaningful lives,” guides us in all that we do. It is what we strive to teach our students; it’s the environment we seek to provide for our faculty and staff so that they may do their best work.

The Campaign for Carolina and the College of Arts and Sciences

When the Campaign for Carolina publicly launched in October 2017, the College of Arts and Sciences announced its goal of raising $750 million by December 2022. More than 37,000 alumni and generous friends of the College committed $764 million for undergraduate and graduate students, world-renowned faculty and researchers, and the 43 academic departments and curricula that they call home.

The stories on this website represent just a few of the donors whose commitments make possible so much of the progress that happens at the College of Arts and Sciences every day. The Campaign for Carolina brought thousands of College alumni, parents and friends together. Their collective efforts will inspire and guide our students, faculty and programs to greatness for years to come.
